Scorpions tribute Lovedrive are on a mission to rock the north-east and beyond.
The band was formatively put together by Phil during the early part of last year, yet the present line-up came about in August when Paul & Colin joined, and then finally solidified in October with George coming back in to the picture. Lovedrive have already broken in with a couple of 'warm-up' support slots, and are now out and rocking as a headline act starting with Nikh's in Blyth and the Office in South Shields.
Lovedrive are a tribute to the music of Scorpions, and the songs chosen for the live shows are from the classic 70s & 80s eras of the band. The music will range from the Uli Jon Roth years of Tokyo Tapes right through the band's most successful period of the mid-80s. The tracks will mainly have a strong rock vibe, but there will be small number of ballads in there too, as Scorpions have always included such songs in their live shows and on their albums too but they can guarantee you, ...NO 'Wind of Change'.
Although not a 5-piece line-up as Scorpions, Lovedrive hope to authentically recreate the music of a live Scorpions show between the 4 of them on stage. And the approach to choosing the songs for inclusion has been from a fan's perspective of the original group. Colin continued: 'That way we hope to keep the majority of the audience happy, and to give the genuine Scorps fans all their favourite tracks that they would love to hear if they went to see a real Scorpions concert.' .
